Claire earned her Undergraduate Degree from Wake Forest University in Psychology and Women's Studies, her Master’s degree from University of Cincinnati in Mental Health Counseling, and her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Kent State University.
Her doctoral research, published under the title "Parental Experience of Phase One of a Modified Maudsley Treatment Approach for their Adolescent with an Eating Disorder: A Qualitative Study," focused solely on parental experiences during family-based treatment for adolescents with eating disorders, further deepening her passion for supporting both individuals and families throughout the recovery process. Through a phenomenological qualitative approach, Claire spent over 5 years interviewing, studying, and researching best practices for supporting the family system of an adolescent with an eating disorder. Throughout her career, Claire has worked across Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP), Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), and outpatient levels of care. Her clinical experience includes work with The Emily Program in Cleveland, OH (formerly the Cleveland Center for Eating Disorders), The Renfrew Center of Charlotte, and most recently was the first Clinical Director at the Emily Program in Charlotte (formerly Veritas Collaborative), integral in the building, establishment and training of all staff and employees.
She has extensive training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Family-Based Treatment (FBT) – also referred to as the Maudsley Method.
During her doctoral studies, Claire had the opportunity to train under the supervision of Dr. Lucene Wisniewski, Ph.D, Dr. Mark Warren, MD and work in collaboration with multiple clinical industry leaders.

In addition to her clinical practice, Claire has provided clinical supervision and training to numerous counseling students and clinicians pursuing independent licensure. She has had the privilege of shaping several of today's emerging and trusted leaders in the field, including Dr. Dean Malec, Brittany Davis, and Bailey Raines; many of whom now hold leadership roles within the counseling and mental health profession.
She has also taught undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral-level courses at several universities, including Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Northeast Ohio Medical University, Gardner-Webb University, Kent State University, and University of Cincinnati.
Claire has presented workshops, informational sessions, seminars, and consulted with various media and news sources throughout her career. She has a passion for providing empirically based information and resources to schools, community organizations and as a keynote speaker for industry leaders and companies across all contexts.

Her supervision is grounded in empirically supported treatment models and focuses on case conceptualization, differential diagnosis, treatment planning, and the application of evidence-based interventions across a range of clinical presentations, including mood and anxiety disorders, eating disorders, self-harm, and relational concerns.
Supervision also emphasizes clinical reasoning, ethical decision-making, risk assessment, and the integration of research-informed, measurement-based care into practice.

She emphasizes the importance of self-compassion, self-care, effective communication and coping strategies, and de-stigmatization of accessing therapy.
